5 Places to Go Apple Picking

One of our favorite Fall activities is apple picking! If you've been wanting to go apple picking but weren't sure where to go, check out these 5 places to go apple picking in and around Loudoun County.

  1. Mackintosh Fruit Farm - just outside of Loudoun County in Berryville, Mackintosh Fruit Farm offers a variety of fruits and vegetables to pick so you can go for apples or much more! They have a walking loop where you can sometimes see farm animals, as well as a small kids play area, and a farm store with baked goods and a full menu. Small picking fee.
  2. Great Country Farms - maybe the most popular in Loudoun County, GCF is a family favorite. Enjoy the farm plus ride the wagon to the orchard for apple picking. Don't forget their apple cider donuts! Farm admission required for picking, or you can get pre-picked produce in their farm market.
  3. Marker Miller Orchards - located in Winchester, Marker Miller is another great option. They have a kids play area, orchards, and a farm stand. PYO apples have a flat fee per bag.
  4. Hollin Farms - a little farther away in Delaplane, Hollin Farms is a good choice if you are just interested in picking apples (or more). The orchards are on a hill so the view is fantastic especially with fall foliage. They also have baked goods. They do close a little earlier than most farms (at 3 PM).
  5. Stribling Orchard - located in Markham, Stribling is a lower-key family owned orchard with a good variety of apples to pick (by the pound, or flat rate for a peck). They have a farm market and on the weekends have music and outside vendors serving kettle corn, ice cream, and more.

We hope you have a chance to check out one or more of these local farms for apple picking!
